Each year, Hinsdale County Public Health hosts "Walk For A Cancer Free Future" as a way to raise money to help local women pay for annual well-woman exams.  Intended to serve the underinsured or uninsured, this event has helped promote early detection screenings among women of all ages.  Our goal is to someday be able to expand our scope of reach and each year we are getting one step closer.  We are continuously working hard to raise more money so we can expand our ability to help provide early detection screenings for men and have enough funds to help cover extra costs often associated with being diagnosed with cancer.

The registration fee this year is $20 per person which includes a t-shirt, a wristband for discounts at partcipating local businesses and a chance to win some great door prizes.  Next comes the fun part -  let the  fundraising begin! Please print the registration form to get started.  We will not have teams this year, but that does not mean you cannot get a group of friends together to take turns making laps around our luminary lit path.

We start the walk off with a survivor lap. A survivor is anyone who has ever heard the words “You have cancer.” And we invite all cancer survivors in the community to attend our "Walk for a Cancer Free Future."  The evening is filled with great entertainment and lots of great people coming together for a valiant cause!  The idea is to keep walking laps around the town park (in historic downtown Lake City) throughout the event.  One important aspect of the "Walk for a Cancer Free Future" is the opportunity for people to come together to remember loved ones lost to cancer and honor those who have survived cancer.
